Race Day
On the 14th of June, we all trekked down to Silverstone. We were delayed, as the minibus got a puncture, and the hire people had to come and change our tyre. When we eventually arrived at Silverstone, we were shown to our garage, and we setup. We tuned the engine a little, leaning the mixture, but we realised that our car had too much acceleration any way. We were in the process of warming up the engine, when we found then engine wouldn't start. This was because the flywheel had fallen off the crank shaft. A quick repair operation was in order, especially as the race was in ten minutes. We took off the flywheel, thanking our M3 spanner, as it sped up the process a lot. We then tightened up the nut that held the flywheel on, and put it all back together. We went to our race, but three quarters of the way round, the car coasted to a halt. It had happened again! We repeated the above process, making sure to tighten it harder, and we put everything back together. We raced in the second heat, and even after the abysmal first heat, we came third overall. We were in the Grand Prix!
However, our luck was not to last. About one lap into the Grand Prix, we were cornering, when an out of control car crashed into us, breaking our rear left wheel off, and rolling our car. Race Day was over.
